We are Niccolo and Sasha, the brothers behind Alive Ferments.
Founded in March 2020, Alive Ferments is more than just a fermented food company;
We believe in the power of fermented foods to deliver not only incredible taste but also significant health benefits and a positive impact on the planet.
Growing up we learned how these bubbling jars not only held the power to strengthen and heal, but also to create incredibly delicious flavors.
Fermentation has always been a part of our lives; our mom's unique fermented creations in the family fridge, coupled with our shared passion for creating delicious nourishing meals, is what inspired us to embark in this venture.

Our Story
Our journey began in rural Tuscany, where we grew up, rooted in a deep appreciation for wholesome, traditional food.
We used fermentation to capture the essence of our garden produce, continually exploring diverse flavors and always intrigued by the outcomes.
Our passion for fermentation began out of a simple craving.
After moving back to Italy from California, we found ourselves missing the vibrant flavors of authentic Mexican Food. If we could find some cilantro, we would make large batches of salsa, that would sadly spoil within days, until we started adding a few spoonfuls of our sauerkraut brine to the mix, and our salsas stayed fresh for weeks, boasting a wonderfully vibrant, fresh, and fizzy flavor.
This sparked a realization in us—fermentation was not just a way to preserve food, but a method to enhance its nutritional contents, its flavor, freshness, and longevity.
Sasha's expertise in wine production and organic farming, combined with Niccolò's culinary background and entrepreneurial spirit, culminated in the launch of Alive Ferments. Throughout our culinary journeys, we discovered how fermentation can be a powerful tool to combat food waste while creating rich new flavors and promoting gut health.
As our initial creations gained traction and secured retail space, we expanded our offerings to include a diverse range of fermented products.
From our all-purpose probiotic sauces to gut shots, seasonings, cultured garlic and traditional ferments, we aim to spotlight unique flavors from various communities and celebrate our shared humanity through the universal love for good food.
Today, Alive Ferments offers a wide range of fermented products, from our tangy vegan kimchi to our traditional and spicy sauerkraut, all crafted with the freshest, locally-sourced ingredients.
We want to grow to make difference, by supporting small farms, and continuously exploring ways to preserve food naturally and deliver unique and nutritious artisanal products.
